10ZiG Is First To Release Citrix Linux Receiver 13.0

10ZiG Technology, the only Thin and Zero Client Vendor to offer true versatility at no extra cost, is excited to announce its integration of Citrix Linux Receiver 13.0 into its Thin and Zero Client product range (5748C/5848C/5872/6872). 10ZiG is the first Thin Client vendor to release the new software and we are proud to be taking the Citrix Linux Receiver to the next level of performance.

This new Citrix Linux Receiver supports many of the new features and enhancements in XenDesktop 7, including Windows Media client-side content fetching, HDX 3D pro, HDX RealTime webcam compression, Server-rendered Rich Graphics, and IPv6 support. You can also use the Citrix Linux Receiver 13.0 to connect to virtual desktops created with Citrix VDI-in-a-Box.

Citrix Linux Receiver 13.0 has UDP audio support. Most audio features are transported using the ICA stream and are secured in the same way as other ICA traffic. User Datagram Protocol (UDP) Audio uses a separate, unsecured, transport mechanism, but is more consistent when the network is busy. UDP Audio is primarily designed for Voice over IP (VoIP) connections and requires that audio traffic is of medium quality and unencrypted. Along with UDP audio support, there have been many audio and webcam playback improvements. Various changes are implemented that conserve CPU cycles and reduce latency. There are also several new audio settings available in module.ini.

HDX performance advancements in this release improve the user experience when using productivity apps, viewing multimedia files and during audio and video conference calls. Now the Citrix Linux Receiver can process high FPS for 2D and 3D graphics with partner hardware accelerated plugin and other generic optimizations, stretching the server limits even from a low power device. Under the hood flow control, multithreading and UDP audio greatly improve the audio and video conference experience. Support for client side content fetching in HDX Mediastream maximizes the server and network scalability for multimedia delivery.

A new self-service UI or new graphical user interface, replaces the configuration manager, wfcmgr. After users are set up with an account, they can subscribe to desktops and applications, and then start them. Also, with new StoreFront support, users can now connect to StoreFront stores as well as Citrix XenApp sites (also known as Program Neighborhood Agent sites).

Demo units with the new Citrix Linux Receiver 13.0 are now available through our North American, European and Australian locations. To arrange a demo unit or to find out more about the new Citrix Linux Receiver 13.0, contact us at info@10ZiG.com, info@10ZiG.eu or info@10ZiG.au.
