Citrix Receiver for Linux 13.7 is a Customer Treat and no Trick!

October is Full of Citrix Treats & 10ZiG Has Your Tips & Tricks

Citrix Receiver for Linux

Citrix Receiver for Linux-based Thin Clients is Spooktacular

Released 9/19/17, Citrix Receiver for Linux allows for users of Linux OS-based devices, such as Thin Clients, to access virtual desktops and hosted applications delivered by XenDesktop & XenApp. The features of Citrix Receiver 13.7 for Linux are majorly two-part.

Optimized Customer Feedback

Firstly, the Citrix Receiver for Linux integrates the Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP) with an opt-out option. The CEIP program with Citrix Receiver for Linux 13.7 version helps collect anonymous user statistics and usage information, providing it to Citrix, without any worries or work on the part of the user. Information-gathering is focused on data configuration – helping to explain how Citrix products are configured, and performance & reliability data – helping to identify common problems with software, etc. Not a bad option.

Optimized Communications Security

Secondly, Citrix Receiver for Linux 13.7 adds support for Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS) to support Enlightened Data Transport (EDT) connections. A communications protocol, DTLS provides security for datagram-based applications by enabling communication without eavesdropping, tampering, or forgery. The DTLS with Citrix Receiver for Linux allows secure external access to resources hosted in XenDesktop & XenApp environments using the EDT protocol. It’s always good to have as much security as possible.

Citrix HDX RealTime Optimization Pack for Skype for Business (RTOP 2.3)

Something also worth mentioning, in addition to Citrix Receiver for Linux 13.7 features, is a little reminder of what’s new with the Citrix RTOP – 2.3 Version. Citrix XenDesktop or XenApp users are experiencing improved video quality on conference calls and meetings with simulcast viewing capabilities and H.264 unified communications support, optimized bandwidth via RealTime Media Engine functionality, enhanced call statistics, quality of experience statistics, call admission control, and Citric Receiver auto-updates. You may want to look into this if you haven’t already.
