Over the course of four months, the hospital had deployed 6,420 x 10ZiG 7048qo Zero Clients specifically developed for the Omnissa platform. Presenting on boot to a secure Imprivata log-in portal, they provided purpose built, highly secure, and energy-efficient endpoints supporting Blast Extreme and Microsoft Teams optimization for impressive performance, high-quality voice and video performance. The hospital also extended the life of 1,380 existing Windows 10 PCs, using RepurpOS, converting them into secure, dedicated Omnissa Ready Linux endpoints, providing the exact same user experience as the native 10ZiG hardware. This avoided unnecessary e-waste and maximized prior investment. These endpoints are due for replacement in eighteen months, when they will be swapped out for 10ZiG Zero Clients to continue the standardized, sustainable endpoint strategy now in place. As North Kansas City Hospital has grown, the IT team has been challenged to give nurses, physicians and clinicians efficient access to computing resources at the point of care. The conversion to an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system pointed out several inefficiencies with the previously deployed PCs. When Art Fisk was promoted to CIO, he immediately noticed that PCs were taking up too much space and restricting the staff to inefficient workflows. “Each nurse was claiming a PC at the beginning of their shift and would then have to come back to that device to do their work,” explained Fisk. “Everyone avoided using a system that someone else was already using, even if that person had stepped away.” The CIO asked IT to initiate a search for a point-of-care solution that would offer:

The Emergency Department based at the Royal infirmary is one of the busiest in the UK, and the new building where it is housed opened just over a year ago.
