General Availability (GA) Releases

General availability (GA) releases are typically released on a quarterly release schedule. GA releases can include but are not limited to feature enhancements, bug fixes, and security vulnerability addressing. GA releases go through a thorough QA (Quality Assurance) testing process prior to being available.

16.5.40 is our current GA release, and will ship on any new orders until further notice.  This will be the final GA release for the 16.5 firmware branch, and is inclusive of all Hotfix builds on 16.5.39.x and earlier firmwares.  Where applicable customers can upgrade from previous 16.5.x firmware versions to 16.5.40.

16.6.1 is our first GA release in the new 16.6 firmware branch designed around the the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS platform.  While this is provided publicly for download and upgrade from existing 16.5.x firmware versions is supported, please note that there is no downgrade path from 16.6.1 backward to any 16.5 release.  Furthermore there are documented known limitations listed in the release notes which will be addressed in future 16.6 versions. For this reason, customers are strongly encouraged to review the release notes and test 16.6.1 with a testing group prior to upgrading the environment to 16.6.1 at scale.

Hotfix Releases

Hotfix releases are designed to allow for fast response firmware releases, containing feature requests, bug fixes or Security vulnerability addressing in response to urgent customer needs. Whilst these go through a basic level of QA as far as the individual change, they DO NOT go through any thorough QA testing process. Caution should be exercised where deploying Hotfixes. We recommend where using Hotfixes that these are deployed to a test set of users and clients initially, before deploying on a wider scale.
