The Horizon Client for Linux 2606 release introduces substantial improvements to VAAPI video decoding performance on systems using Intel and AMD GPUs, with performance gains of up to 2x. The enhancements are designed to improve the performance of remote desktops and published applications delivered through Omnissa Horizon. 

Through an ongoing technology partnership, 10ZiG provides Omnissa with thin client devices for testing, optimizing and validating Horizon Blast Extreme performance across 10ZiG’s Intel- and AMD-based hardware portfolio. The collaboration enables both companies to test Horizon releases against purpose-built endpoint hardware and optimize the experience for mutual customers.

Testing of the new 2606 Linux Client demonstrated significant performance improvements on the 10ZiG 7100q Series, powered by the AMD Ryzen R2514 processor, and 10ZiG 7300q Series, powered by the Intel N100 processor. Performance gains were validated across the codecs supported by each model, including H.264 (4:2:0), HEVC (4:2:0) and, on the 7300q Series, AV1, as well as imaging based and lossless codec options.

Horizon Blast supports a range of codecs for remoting screen content, including H.264, HEVC and AV1, and can take advantage of GPU hardware acceleration when supported by the client and agent hardware. The performance improvements in Horizon 2606 therefore provide organizations using supported 10ZiG endpoints with an opportunity to deliver smoother, more responsive virtual desktop experiences while maximizing the capabilities of endpoint GPU hardware.

Leicester, UK – June 10, 2026 – 10ZiG® Technology, a leading provider of thin and zero client hardware and software solutions for VDI, DaaS, and web application environments, today announced that TWM Solicitors, one of Surrey’s largest and most established legal practices, has deployed 10ZiG modernized thin client devices across its offices as part of a comprehensive cloud transformation programme.

With roots stretching back to the 1790s, TWM Solicitors is a multidisciplinary law firm employing 240 staff operating across three sites in Surrey – including its principal office in Guildford. TWM acts as a trusted legal partner for individuals, families and businesses, offering a range of legal services from residential conveyancing through to commercial law and litigation. The firm’s IT infrastructure supports a hybrid workforce, with staff regularly working both in-office and from home.

Shifting to the Cloud Simplifies IT

 Several years ago, TWM Solicitors made a strategic decision to exit on-premise infrastructure and transition to cloud and SaaS-based solutions to reduce capital expenditure, move to a predictable operational cost model and accelerate the delivery of new technology services across the business.

In an ambitious programme completed over several months, TWM simultaneously migrated from Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS) to Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), moved from on-premises backend infrastructure to Microsoft Azure, upgraded to Microsoft 365, installed new practice management software, rolled out dual monitors across all desks and deployed 10ZiG modernized thin clients in its offices. The entire programme was delivered by a four-person IT team.

The firm chose Microsoft AVD as its desktop virtualization platform – a natural fit given that legal software vendors develop almost universally within the Microsoft ecosystem. The AVD session hosts are provisioned from a single gold image applied consistently to every endpoint, providing centralized patch management, strong security and an infrastructure that can be rebuilt from scratch if required. Nerdio manages the scaling of session hosts throughout the day, ensuring TWM Solicitors pays only for compute it actually needs.

Choosing 10ZiG: 24-inch Dual Monitors, Digital Dictation and Centralized Management

To support the AVD rollout, all endpoints needed upgrading. Alan Barrett, TWM Solicitors’ Head of IT explains, “Our requirements were clear: new desktop hardware needed to drive dual 24-inch monitors at full resolution, support Windows drivers for our SpeechWrite digital dictation software and provide a robust, centralized remote management platform to keep devices updated without requiring physical site visits.”

TWM Solicitors found 10ZiG through Softcat, a trusted reseller the firm has worked with for over a decade. After a successful trial, it procured approximately 240 10ZiG devices running Windows IoT LTSC (Long-Term Servicing  Channel) – a locked-down, highly secure version of Windows 10 with security support through to February 2032. The 10ZiG devices therefore serve a single purpose and function as highly managed secure terminals that simply open an AVD session and nothing else. Furthermore, the endpoints are set up to optimize Teams and Zoom calls running in AVD, leveraging the power of the local 10ZiG thin client hardware.

“When we moved to AVD, the endpoint became both less important and more critical at the same time,” explains Barrett. “Less important because all the compute is now happening in the cloud; more critical because it’s the device that everyone uses to do their work. 10ZiG has been the right answer on both counts. They’re so low maintenance that they’ve essentially become invisible which is exactly what you want from an endpoint.”

Seamless Rollout Across Multiple Sites and Solid Return on Investment

Before despatch, TWM Solicitors’ IT team worked with 10ZiG to build a primary device image incorporating all required software, drivers and settings. Every device arrived pre-configured and ready to connect to the network.  Barrett explains, “This saved us a lot of time during the rollout – which was welcome, given the physical effort involved: unpacking computers and monitors, assembling thin client bases and monitor arms, fitting everything to desks, then removing old equipment and recycling packaging. At our largest office in Guildford, we replaced over 100 machines and monitors in a single day.”

 The preparation work carried out with 10ZiG beforehand made all the difference. “I remember saying to our managing partner afterwards: where else have you worked where so many computers have been changed over a weekend and everything worked on Monday?”, adds Barrett.

Using 10ZiG Manager, TWM Solicitors can now also remotely power devices on and off, automate patch deployment and maintain consistent configurations across all offices, further reducing operational overhead and improving endpoint consistency. 

TWM has run the numbers. Centralised remote management has saved the IT team from visiting multiple office. The cumulative saving runs to hundreds of hours of IT engineer time and significant travel costs. Equally, device replacement has been simplified: because every 10ZiG modernized thin client holds no local user data, a faulty unit is swapped in minutes with no data recovery and no software to reinstall.

At a similar price, or even lower than an equivalent PC, the annualized cost works out at around £50 per year. “When you break it down, we’re paying roughly £1 a week for a device with very little day-to-day management required,” says Barrett. “We’ve made the right decision to investment in 10ZiG modernized thin clients. They’re easy to manage, easy to maintain and the 10ZiG team has been excellent to work with. The burden of desktop management – which used to be time-consuming, boring and frustrating – has simply disappeared.”

Leicester, UK – May 26, 2026 – 10ZiG® Technology, a leading provider of thin and zero client hardware and software solutions for VDI, DaaS, and web application environments, today announced that Beesley & Fildes, one of the Northwest of England’s oldest independent builders’ merchants, has deployed 10ZiG modernized zero clients across its branch network to strengthen cybersecurity, simplify endpoint management and support the company’s long-term cloud computing strategy.

Established in 1820, Beesley & Fildes is a multi-million pound, family-owned builders’ merchant operating nine branches across the Northwest of England. The business supplies building materials to a wide variety of trades including construction, civil engineering, landscaping, plumbing and heating, kitchens and bathrooms, joinery and roofing. Today, the company employs around 300 staff and supports a hybrid IT environment spanning branch operations, remote workers and cloud-hosted applications. 

The deployment forms part of Beesley & Fildes’ wider investment in Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and secure endpoint management. The company currently manages more than 150 endpoints across desktops, laptops and zero clients, underpinned by technologies including VPN connectivity, multi-factor authentication (MFA), remote monitoring and management (RMM), mobile device management (MDM) and conditional access controls. 

The decision to move to 10ZiG resulted as Beesley & Fildes’ previous thin client endpoint supplier, AXEL, ceased trading which created concerns around cybersecurity compliance and the inability to receive future firmware and security updates. 

After reviewing solutions from various vendors, 10ZiG was selected following a successful proof-of-concept trial involving 10ZiG modernized zero clients running 10ZiG’s locked down Linux NOS software connecting to a Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environment in Microsoft Azure. The final deployment included the purchase of powerful 10ZiG 7048q Series and ultra compact 10ZiG 4648q Series devices, managed centrally through free 10ZiG Manager software. 

“We take cybersecurity extremely seriously and simply could not continue running endpoints that were no longer receiving firmware and security updates,” explains Rob John, Beesley & Fildes’ IT Services Manager. “Our original devices themselves were still working perfectly well, but we had to protect the business and ensure we remained compliant from a cybersecurity perspective.”

“We looked at multiple vendors, but 10ZiG immediately stood out because they actually engaged with us to understand our environment,” adds John. “Other bigger vendors largely treated us as just  another order number whereas 10ZiG worked with us closely throughout the entire procurement process. We trialed their devices, connected them to our Azure environment and quickly realised just how easy they are to deploy and manage.” 

Supplied by 10ZiG partner, Panacea Logic, the new endpoints enable staff across branch counters and sales offices to access core business applications including Microsoft 365 and Epicor BisTrack, the company’s specialist ERP platform designed for the building supply industry. 

Using 10ZiG Manager, Beesley & Fildes automated device naming, remote configuration and deployment processes, significantly reducing rollout times and simplifying ongoing endpoint administration.

“The automation within 10ZiG Manager has been hugely impressive,” says Shaun Partington, Beesley & Fildes’ IT Systems Administrator. “We were able to configure the management platform so that devices automatically renamed themselves and pulled down the correct configuration profile as soon as they connected to the network.”

“In practical terms, that meant we could deploy devices incredibly quickly,” adds Partington. “Once the prep work had been completed, we literally plugged a zero client device into the network and within seconds it was configured and ready for the user.”

The rollout across nine sites was therefore completed easily by Beesley & Fildes’ two-person IT team, with no disruption to end users. Staff transitioned seamlessly onto the new endpoints while continuing to access the same cloud-hosted applications and services. 

“For us, one of the biggest successes was the simplicity and speed of deployment. Years ago, firmware updates involved physically travelling between branches with USB sticks,” says John. “With 10ZiG, everything is centrally managed and automated. That represents a massive operational improvement for a business like ours which operates across multiple sites. Users simply log in to access applications exactly as before. But behind the scenes, we now have far more modern, secure and manageable endpoint infrastructure.” 

Beesley & Fildes also sees the deployment as laying important foundations for future desktop virtualisation initiatives, including the potential future adoption of Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
